Overview
The 2019 Canadian Grand Prix, officially known as the Formula 1 Pirelli Grand Prix du Canada 2019, was a Formula One motor race held on June 9, 2019, at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada. It was the seventh race of the 2019 Formula One World Championship and the 50th Canadian Grand Prix. The race was won by Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes, who started from second on the grid. Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari finished second, and Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing finished third.
Qualifying
Hamilton took pole position for the race with a time of 1:10.296. Vettel was second, 0.203 seconds behind Hamilton, and Verstappen was third, 0.441 seconds behind Hamilton.
Race
Hamilton led the race from start to finish, despite being challenged by Vettel early on. Vettel was able to stay close to Hamilton for the first few laps, but Hamilton was able to pull away gradually. Verstappen passed Vettel for second place on lap 18. Vettel was unable to catch Verstappen, and Verstappen finished in second place.
Post-Race
Hamilton's victory was his seventh in the Canadian Grand Prix, and it moved him into the lead of the World Championship standings. Vettel remained second in the standings, and Verstappen moved up to third. The race was also notable for the performance of rookie driver Lando Norris of McLaren. Norris finished sixth in the race, and he was the only driver outside of the top three teams to score points.
